Insulation

All Spa Crest hot tubs are insulated with the ReflectoTherm insulation system.  ReflectoTherm consists of a reflective thermal barrier on the cabinet panels and a layer of high density foam on the shell.  This creates a trapped air space under the spa.  Reflective insulation is designed to contain RADIANT heat. Radiant heat travels through space from a warm surface to a cooler surface. The reflective barrier contains up to 97% of the radiant heat that is generated from the spas equipment and also insulates the spa against cold temperatures.  Regular bulk insulation (fiberglass, foam, etc.) will only contain 10 - 20% of the heat generated by the spa.  Furthermore, bulk insulation will only slow hot and cold transfer it will not block it.  ReflectoTherm insulation system insulates the spa from the outside elements, and creates one of the most efficient spas on the market.

The water surface is first skimmed while it is being drawn into thefilter housing. Large debris is then collected by the filter basket. The water is then micro-cleansed by our 50 sq. ft. no by-pass filter. No by-pass is important because even when the filter gets dirty, thewater will not be allowed to “by-pass” the filter which is commonin many other spas on the market. The water is then directed through our state-of-the-art heater tube, and both entry and exit of the water are monitored by SmartSensor™ technology. The heater only comes on when the spatemperature drops below the set temperature.Water is then treated by our ozone purification system whichutilizes O3 to rid bacteria and other organics from the water.Ozone is used to kill bacteria in the water and to reduce theamount of chlorine or bromine required. To ensure the utmost inclean, ozone treated water is introduced in the spa at three differentpoints in the foot well of the spa.

  Hydrotherapy
Hydro and hydrothermal therapy are traditional methods of treatment that have been used for the treatment of disease and injury by many cultures, including those in ancient Rome, China and Japan. Water therapy has been around for centuries. The ancient Greeks took therapeutic baths. Water is an important ingredient in the traditional Chinese and Native American healing systems.
The recuperative and healing properties of hydrotherapy are based on it's mechanical and/or thermal effects. It exploits the body's reaction to hot and cold stimuli, to the protracted application of heat, to pressure exerted by the water and to the sensation it gives. The nerves carry impulses felt at the skin deeper into the body, where they are instrumental in stimulating the immune system, influencing the production of stress hormones, invigorating the circulation and digestion, encouraging blood flow and lessening pain sensitivity.
When you submerge yourself in a bath, a pool or a whirlpool, you experience a kind of weightlessness. Your body is relieved from the constant pull of gravity. Water also has a hydrostatic effect. It has a massage-like feeling as the water gently kneads your body. Water, in motion, stimulates touch receptors on the skin, boosting blood circulation and releasing tight muscles.
Hydrotherapy and hydrothermal therapy are chiefly used to tone up the body, to stimulate digestion, circulation, and the immune system, and to bring relief from pain.
Water seems to have special powers in getting rid of stress and rejuvenating our body. It affects the skin and muscles. It calms the lungs, heart, stomach and endocrine system by stimulating nerve reflexes on the spinal cord.
Various case reports, observational studies, and a number of controlled studies provide some evidence of success in the use of hydrotherapy.
In a study of 40 persons at the University of Minnesota, 85% of the participants preferred a whirlpool bath to a still bath. Only whirlpool was effective in reducing the participants' reactivity to stress although both still and whirlpool baths were effective in reducing anxiety.
